Alana’s New Haircut

Date March 31, 2009

Tonight, as I was getting dinner ready, Benton came into the kitchen and asked where the large clump of hair he saw was from. I thought to myself that it is just Elwyn shedding on the white carpet. I asked Benton “What do you mean?” What he meant was the large pile of what appeared to be Alana’s hair at the top of the stairs. Hmmm……

After Benton gathered the pile up, it was clearly Alana’s hair – a very long section. This turned out to be one of 4 or 5 different piles. There were other piles in her room and Carson’s room. Both Tim and I proceeded to tell her it was not OK for her to cut her hair, at which point she headed up stairs to cry very dramatically.

I am thinking that the commerical for the Barbie Rapunzel Cut and Style she saw on TV and insisted on adding to her birthday list might have had something to do with this. I was just glad that the scissors came out AFTER the neighbor’s daughter headed home. After dinner, I gave all the kids haircuts. After shortening Alana’s hair about 2-3 inches, the missing clumps are a little less noticable. She appears to have some blunt layers in her hair.

that’s hilarious. cutting hair was my favorite past time growing up…my own, the neighborhood girls’, my uncle’s while he was sleeping….oh yes!

OMG! I’m thankful that Taryn asked first so that I was able to let her know ahead of time that a new self-haircut would not be well recieved. That’s hillarious though. Ahhh…, I remember the first time I cut my own hair. My mother was none too pleased. I still do it and she still has too squash her desire to scream out “what do you think you’re doing, young lady?”. I thought she would surely need medical attention last fall when I cut Taryn’s hair. You’re brave though, the reason I don’t cut Brecklyn’s is because it’s so straight. Taryn’s hair is much more forgiving when it comes to cutting. I was looking for the picture of Alana’s new hairdo, but the ruler, I must say, was a great idea. I’m surprised you only needed to cut a few inches off.
