Market Square

Market Square -- the largest square in Eastern Europe -- was our base of operations. The Hotel Saski where we stayed was about a half a block off of the square. Click on the image to see a larger version.

St. Mary's Church (Kosciol Mariacki) -- 300 years old and both a major tourist attraction and the site of the wedding.

Market Square at night -- too bad I had not yet really figured out how to effectively take night shots.

A view of St. Mary's Church at night from one of the side streets off the square.

There were a number of interesting human form sculptures around the square, most of them completed between 1997 and 2001 and only installed relatively recently.

More such sculptures -- the one on the right had a touch of whimsy.

Right in the middle of the square was a long structure -- Cloth Hall. It was filled with booths with various knick-knacks (it seemed a bit like a tourist trap, but lots of locals came here to shop as well). Upstairs was a museum of Polish art, which was quite interesting (and free on Sundays!).

Another shot from inside Cloth Hall. Note the sculpture outside (the same face that Julie is shown standing next to above).
