Picasa Facial Recognition –> Carson Video Montage
December 5, 2009
One of my excuses for not doing much blogging of late is that I got sucked into Google Picasa’s facial recognition capabilities and turned it loose on our entire digital photo collection. It’s pretty impressive, in that it identifies faces and matches them correctly something like 80% of the time. The problem is that that last 20% is still a lot of photos. But, as of this morning, I got the whole collection up to date.
Our collection now has 147 different people identified. as you would expect, the people with the most photos that include them are Benton, Carson, and Alana, with each of them coming in at over 2,000 photos. For chuckles, I scanned through the Carson pictures and made a quick movie. It’s 3:14 long. Enjoy!
Please leave a comment if you can’t get it to play. It’s hosted on YouTube, so if you can’t get it to play directly in whatever form you’re reading this post, you should be able to click through on the image above and view it on YouTube.

Didn’t realize that you had this many pictures of the little bugger and the music certainly fits Carson. Enjoyed it although it took several tries to get through the entire video without it hanging up.

I’m grinning ear to ear and teary-eyed all at the same time – what fun, what a darling 8 year old, and I’ve always loved that song but will thnk of it in whole new ways now when I hear it! The entire video played through for me in one go, so I think Dad’s computer is just being its normal grinding self.
