Carpet Cleaning

Date May 29, 2008

The family room remodel is not yet completed. The carpet is in, but I am awaiting the scheduling of the install. It should be completed by next week, but Tim is not holding his breath. I, for one, am glad that my procrastination (well not really procrastination- let’s just call it my inability to make a decision coupled with 3 kids that keep me on the go) has delayed the new carpet. Here is why I am happy it is not yet finished…..

This morning, Benton came into the bedroom to inform me that one of the dog’s threw up….. on the carpet. I knew that this was not throw up, as Molly returned from her weekend at the dog kennel with diarrhea and had left a few piles on the tile floor in the front hallway Tuesday night. When I discovered the mess on the tile, I was really appreciative that Molly chose a tile surface, which I was able to spray thoroughly with Clorox spray to disinfect. But after Benton’s announcement, I was kicking myself for not remembering this and putting her in her crate for the evening.

After finishing upstairs, I came down to discover that Molly had “let loose” on the family room carpet – the old, soon-to-be-ripped-out, carpet. After wiping up what I could, I decided the best way to thoroughly clean the carpet was to get out the box cutter. I don’t recommend this for most carpet cleaning, but it did feel rather gratifying getting to avoid the hassle of a real clean up.
